1st General Meeting – Public Meeting Minutes

Overview

CSUEB Pre-Med APAMSA held its first General Meeting on Tuesday, September 7th, 2021, at 7 PM (Pacific) via Zoom. The following Student Governance Team Members were in attendance:

At the meeting, we discussed the following topics:

An Overview of CSUEB Pre-Med APAMSA

  • Lester Andrew Uy presented what APAMSA’s mission is within both the National and CSUEB contexts.

  • He further expanded on varying degrees on how to get involved in APAMSA: ranging from being a General Member to participating within our Leadership Team.

  • Lastly, he outlined what current events are planned for the semester.

Programmatic Overview of Fall 2021 Semester

  • Culture Night (in lieu of November General Meeting).

  • No events planned due to Final Exams and Winter Break.

Survey

  • Elizabeth Cho distributed a Survey to gauge what the community would be interested in seeing APAMSA doing.

  • Topics included: Health Issues in the Asian Pacific American Community, Cultural Similarities and Differences between American and Asian medical practices, Stop AAPI Hate Movement & Asian Pacific American representation in medicine, Professional Development (Resume, Cover Letter, Interview Prep), and MCAT Test Preparation Discussion.

Informal Q&As

  • Kelly Ouyang and Keshlee Roy hosted an Informal Question and Answer Session.

  • Separate rooms were created for PHAP Academic Enhancers (AE), Career-Changers (CC), and PHAP/APAMSA-related discussions.

  • Our Medical Student Consultant, Patrick Ancheta, MS2, was available to answer any questions from the perspective of a PHAP alumnus and current medical student.
